Breast Augmentation

Many women seek to feel more feminine, beautiful, and secure with the full, shapely breasts they have always desired. At our office, our staff believes that every woman deserves to love her body. With breast implants designed to increase and enhance the size and shape of your breasts, we can help you achieve the figure of your dreams.

Two types of implants

One type is the saline-filled implant, which has been used for most women during the past 14 years.

The other type is the silicone gel implant, which we at Teton Plastic Surgery would now recommend as the better option for most women. In 1992, the FDA restricted the use of silicone gel implants to breast reconstruction. But on November 17, 2006, silicone gel breast implants were approved for all women aged 22 or over. Visit Inamed Aesthetics to learn more about the safety of silicone, and contact us today for a consultation.

About the Procedure

During the procedure, incisions are made:

  • Under the breasts, or
  • Below the nipples

Then either saline-filled or silicone gel breast implants are carefully inserted under the pectoral muscles. The incisions are slightly longer for silicone gel implants, as this type of implant comes pre-filled and therefore can’t be folded smaller. When your implants are comfortably positioned, the incisions are stitched closed.

Breast Augmentation is an outpatient procedure done at our facilities under general anesthesia.

It takes one to two hours to complete and you will need someone to drive you home afterwards.

Recovery takes about three to six weeks. You will probably experience some breast sensitivity, soreness, swelling, which will all subside as the tissue around the implants heals. Sometimes nipple sensation decreases temporarily, but it will return as you heal.

Breast Lift

Breasts may begin to sag or hang due to pregnancy, weight loss, weight gain, and the aging process. Breast lift can take years off your body by correcting a drooping bust line and restoring your curves to their youthful state without the use of breast implants. Residents interested in this treatment can contact our offices, to learn more.

During the procedure, excess skin and tissue are trimmed away and the bust line is tightened and lifted. Remaining tissue and the nipples will be repositioned to create the most natural-looking results. Risks include scarring, temporary bruising, swelling, and loss of feeling in the breasts or nipples. Nonetheless, breast lift is considered an extremely safe, effective procedure. The operation takes one or more hours to complete and is often performed in conjunction with augmentation treatments at our facilities.

Breast Reduction

Bra strap indentations on the shoulders, neck and back pain, and general discomfort are problems women with oversized breasts must deal with on a daily basis. Woman with exceptionally large, heavy breasts may feel embarrassed and self-conscious, as well as physically uncomfortable. Breast reduction procedures can make the breasts smaller, lighter, and more proportionate to the body.

The breast reduction procedure begins with an incision around the areola and below the natural curve of the breast. Next, excess fat, glandular tissue, and skin are removed. The remaining skin is tightened around the newly contoured breast. The breast reduction procedure is performed under anesthesia on an outpatient basis and may take up to three hours. Although there will likely be swelling, temporary bruising, and some pain, these side effects fade as the breasts heal.

Breast Reconstruction

This is a procedure designed to address the problems of women who have breast deformities or who have undergone mastectomy. Following mastectomy, many women feel insecure or self-conscious about the appearance of their breasts. It allows their natural curves to be restored. Through the use of breast implants or the patient's own tissue, it can drastically improve quality of life.

The procedure is generally performed in stages and can span across six months. The first stage is the longest and most complex and is usually performed at the time of the mastectomy. Subsequent surgeries are usually outpatient and involve minimal pain and recovery.

There are two types of reconstruction: breast implant-based reconstruction and techniques that use the patient's own tissue. Our staff can help you decide which treatment option will fit your individual needs.

Male Breast Reduction (Gynecomastia)

Extra fat and tissue located in their chest area can make many men feel self-conscious about the appearance of their bodies. However, gynecomastia can be treated with a procedure known as male breast reduction. Two variations of this procedure may be used, depending on your needs. The procedure will be done using a scalpel or scalpel-liposuction approach, if fat, skin, and glandular tissue need to be removed. For this procedure, the incision can be placed in the underarm area or around the areola. If only fatty tissue needs to be removed, the treatment can be done with this procedure.
